‘Rotterdamse Dakendagen’ (Rotterdam Rooftop Days) is a festival that explores new spaces, high above the hustle and bustle of the city. We open doors that remain closed the rest of the year. Join us on the rooftops of Rotterdam, spectacular views await! Explore iconic buildings that are normally closed for public. The program consists of a festive exploring 17 rooftops, with Friday afternoon get-togethers drinks, concerts, dancing, rooftop bars, dakbios, sports activities, an extensive children’s program.

Buy a Dakpas or a ticket to a Tour or Special.

With a Dakpas you can visit all 16 Open Rooftops at your leisure on saturday June 2 or sunday June 3. Specials are events on rooftops: dinners, open air film screenings, concerts etc. They take place on friday, saturday and sunday. Tickets for these are sold seperately.

A (guided) Tour visits several special rooftops within a specific theme, that are not accessible as an open rooftop. A great addition to your Rotterdam rooftop experience! Tickets for tours are sold separately as well, but you will receive a discount if you also have a Dakpas for the same day.

‘Nacht van de Kaap’ presents music, burlesque shows, good food and nice drinks.

The event ‘Nacht van de Kaap’ brings back memories of the days that ‘De Kaap’ (The Cape) was a place where sailors came ashore to drink in one of many bars and meet up with the ladies of pleasure. Nowadays the Kaap is a clean, safe peninsula situated between the south and north. But in remembrance of those vibrant days once a year, at the end of the summer, De Kaap presents music, burlesque shows, good food and nice drinks. Many of the visitors are dressed up as sailors and prostitutes. A great event where different styles and shows meet on just a few kilometers of land. I myself took out my Very Cherry stockings, high red heels and polkadot skirt for the occasion.

De ‘Nacht van de Kaap’ is heading to Katendrecht on September 3th. During the Wereldhavendagen (World Port Days) the festival provides music, theatre and lots of maritime fun all night long. The festival has won the title: “Best Festival in the Netherlands” (Nationale Evenementenprijs 2015) and is mentioned in the Lonely Planet as tip during the harbour festivities: ‘Festivals-goers done retro get-ups such as sailor outfits for the spin-off de Nacht van de Kaap (night of the Cape), held on one crazy Wereldhavendagen night in Katendrecht, Rotterdam’s former red-light quarter’. Sculptures Garden on the roof of warehouse De Bijenkorf. Every weekend in June, during hours of operation of department store de Bijenkorf, you can visit the Sculptures Garden on the roof of this typical post-war Rotterdam building. Starting from the 3rd floor can use the personnel trappenhuis upwards.

In the stairwell hangs the exhibition Breuer 60 years. In the context of the Rotterdam Architecture month is on the roof a unique view point that views on the Coolsingel and the koopgoot. Images of Coolsingel then and in the future will show you the development of the building of the Coolsingel.

A special for this month laid out hiking trail, you can admire sculptures that used a special collection for the emergency stores on the Coolsingel. The small version of the destroyed city of Zadkine remaining in management of the Beehive, is specially for the occasion to this collection.

De Bijenkorf replaced in 1953 the building of Dudok from 1930, that the bombardment had damaged somewhat. However, the ‘ glass palace ‘ of Dudok after the war broken off, because it got in the way for the new orientation of the Coolsingel in the Schiedam Dijk (instead of the Schiedamse Vest).Unlike the original glass building, the new Bijenkorf a close box, to the latest insights from America, with only a strip Windows at the restaurant and offices.
